However, this is a book I could never quite get out of my head. On my first try, I gave up when the plot started really getting into the politics of the day, something I really didn't know anything about, which meant I quickly got lost.

He clearly has a good understanding of the times and the historical setting. The author really made medieval London come alive from the page.
